Unfortunately Flying Paper Lanterns have been a major cause of fires in countries where they are popular. In fact, use of these types of lanterns are now illegal in many countries.

Every year there are more stories of people being burned by the hot wax that drips from these lanterns as they fly through the sky. The site of these lanterns in flight is absolutely beautiful. Unfortunately the lanterns end up landing somewhere, if the candle that powers them is still lit when they land, the lantern catches on fire along with anything else in the area. Even if the lantern doesn't start a fire they all land and become trash for someone else to clean up.

If you are considering using these lanterns, we ask that you please consider the environmental impact, practicality and legality of their use. We realize that their is a market for these lanterns and that many of our competitors carry them.

My name is Jeremy.  I'm the webmaster here at Jadetime.com.  On behalf of the whole Jadetime.com Team, I'd like to say thank you.  Our visitors have helped our online division of our company grow.  We are now looking at ways to improve your experience here at Jadetime.com.  For starters we figured that we'd start this blog. 

Our Story- (From my prospective)

I met Jia (our company's founder) 15 years ago.  She had just started Jadetime at that point.  She started the company as a way to earn money to go to college.  At that time Jia was importing mainly Jade items.  She'd load up the trunk of her car and go all over Southern California in order to sell her inventory.  She developed a list of people who would regularly by from her and made enough money to help with her college bills.  While in college Jia's mother Mary got involved with the business.  Jia and Mary worked tirelessly to build Jadetime into successful wholesale and retail business.  

In 2008 when the economy started to slow down Jia asked me if I'd be interested in helping here create an online division of Jadetime.  I told her I thought it would be a great summer project for me (I am also an elementary school teacher).  I quickly went to work with the help of a photographer, Kieth, to build Jadetime.com. 

In 2010, Mary took over control of the retail and wholesale store, Jadetime E-gift.   Jadetime E-gift now sells many of the same items as Jadetime.com however,  it is an entirely separate store, with separate ownership, prices, marketing, account ants etc…

 I believe our company has been successful because of the hard work and dedication of our employees, and wonderful customer relationships.  

We now are looking toward 2012 with plans to further grow our company.  We exploring a few exciting marketing opportunities.  We are also planning on rolling out an affiliate program.
